RSO & Tinctures in Adrian

What RSO is

RSO, short for Rick Simpson Oil, is a thick, dark cannabis oil made by soaking plant material in a solvent such as alcohol and then evaporating the solvent. It is a whole-plant extract, so it keeps the cannabinoids and terpenes that were in the plant, and it is very concentrated.

• Very high THC: a piece the size of a grain of rice is a meaningful dose. Read the label for the THC content of the product in your hand, because RSO products differ.
• Several ways to use it: depending on the product, labels describe taking it under the tongue, mixed into food, or dabbed. Follow the directions on the package.
• Hard to measure: it is thick and sticky, so small amounts are difficult to portion precisely.

Where tinctures fit

Tinctures are the measured version: liquid extracts, usually alcohol-based, that come with a dropper. The label lists the THC and CBD per dropper or milliliter. Read it, measure the smallest amount it describes, take it as directed under the tongue or swallowed, and wait at least two hours before taking more. Swallowed tinctures behave like edibles, with a slower and longer onset. What is RSO oil covers the oil itself.

Choosing between RSO and a tincture

Choose RSO if you already have experience with concentrates and want a very strong, whole-plant product. Choose a tincture if you want to measure your dose and adjust gradually. If neither is available the day you visit, an edible with the dose on the label is the closest low-fuss way to measure: gummies at Olswell Adrian has a dosing guide.

Dosing RSO safely

Start with an amount no bigger than a grain of rice and wait at least two hours before taking more. Effects can arrive slowly and last many hours. Do not drive after using it. Go up only in small steps over several sessions, if at all. If you have a medical condition or take medication, talk with a healthcare provider before using RSO.
