What to ask for at the counter

Four questions get you to the right jar. Is it live rosin, from fresh-frozen material, or rosin from cured material? What strain is it, and what does it smell and taste like? What is the THC content on the label? And what equipment do I need to use it? Live rosin starts from fresh-frozen flower and tends to keep more of the terpenes, which is why flavor is the point. The team on 28th Street is happy to talk aroma and flavor, so bring your own preferences and let them point you to a match.

Rosin versus resin

Both are concentrates, and they are made differently. Rosin is solventless: ice water, mechanical separation and pressure, no chemical solvents. Live resin uses a solvent that is purged afterward. If you want the flavor-first, solvent-free option, look for rosin. Live rosin vs. live resin has the full comparison, and terpenes and the entourage effect explains why flavor gets so much attention.

Made in Adrian, bought on 28th Street

RKIVE Reserve rosin is processed at Olswell's Adrian lab from Olswell-grown cannabis and sold at Olswell stores. Read the RKIVE Reserve page for the brand, and check the live Grand Rapids menu to see what is available today. Strains rotate, and we do not list prices or strains here.

Using rosin, and storing it

Rosin is made for dab rigs, e-nails and concentrate vaporizers. Start with about the size of a grain of rice and wait before you add any. Keep leftover rosin in an airtight glass or silicone container, away from heat and light. A quarter off your first visit with a valid 21+ ID, and weekly deals sit on the Deals page.

Live Rosin FAQ

How do I choose between two rosins?

Compare three things on the label: the strain, the THC content and whether it is live rosin or rosin from cured material. Then tell the team what flavors you like and ask which one is closest. You do not have to decide on the number alone, because aroma is the point of rosin.

What does solventless mean on a label?

Solventless means no chemical solvents were used to make it. At RKIVE Reserve that means ice water and mechanical separation. Rosin is solventless, and live resin is not. The label also tells you whether it is live rosin, pressed from hash made from fresh-frozen material, or rosin made from cured material.

What equipment does rosin need?

A dab rig, an e-nail or a concentrate vaporizer. Some people also add a little to a joint or bowl, but dabbing is the usual way. If you do not own the gear yet, ask the Grand Rapids team what works with the product you are considering before you buy, or call (616) 288-9434.

What is the concentrate limit in Michigan?

Adults 21 and older can buy up to 15 grams of concentrate per transaction, inside the 2.5 ounce total limit. Cannabis cannot cross state lines, so keep rosin in Michigan. There is no public consumption, and you should never drive impaired.

21+ only. Valid ID required. Michigan purchase limits apply. Please consume responsibly.
