Driving to Olswell Kalkaska: Routes From Northern Michigan

Routes by starting point

• Traverse City, about 24 miles. M-72 runs east from Traverse City toward Kalkaska.
• Grayling, about 27 miles. M-72 runs west from Grayling toward Kalkaska.
• Cadillac, about 41 miles. US-131 runs north from Cadillac to Kalkaska.
• Suttons Bay, about 41 miles. Suttons Bay is on the Leelanau Peninsula. Set your GPS to the store address and your app will pick the route.
• Torch Lake. Alden, on Torch Lake, is about 13.5 miles by road. Distances vary by where on the lake you are staying, so set your GPS from your cottage. The Torch Lake guide covers the lake itself.

Winter driving Up North

Snow, ice and cold are normal from November through March, and darkness comes early. Allow extra time, drive to the conditions and check the weather before you leave. If conditions are bad, you do not have to chance it: order on the Kalkaska live menu and pick up later. Orders are held until the end of the business day, and Olswell does not deliver.

• A valid government-issued photo ID showing you are 21 or older.
• Cash. Olswell is cash only, with an ATM on-site. Order online, pick up in store and pay at pickup.

Do not drive impaired

Do not use cannabis before you drive, and do not use it in the car. Up North roads are often dark, wet or icy, and they need your full attention. Wait until you have arrived somewhere private and you are finished driving for the day.
