Four Things on the Label That Matter

A flower menu is a wall of nicknames, so let the label do the work. Read these four lines first:

• Type. Indica, sativa or hybrid is a loose guide. Many people describe indica-leaning flower as slower and sativa-leaning as brighter, but genetics and terpenes shape the experience more than the word on the jar.
• THC percentage. Bigger means stronger, not automatically better. If you only partake now and then, start lower.
• Terpenes. These are the aroma compounds. When the label lists them, they say more about smell and flavor than the strain name does.
• Dates. Look for a harvest or package date. Fresh flower smells like something.
