Topicals in Traverse City

Four Kinds of Topicals

A topical is applied to the skin instead of eaten or inhaled. The label tells you what each one contains and how it is meant to be used.

• Lotions and creams: lighter formulas for spreading over a larger area.
• Salves and balms: thicker formulas, usually in smaller containers.
• Transdermal patches: adhesive patches worn on the skin. Some are designed to carry cannabinoids into the bloodstream, so read the label to see what a given patch contains.
• Bath soaks and salts: products that dissolve in bathwater.

Will It Get You High?

Most topicals are made to stay on the skin, and many contain little or no THC, but products differ. Some are CBD-dominant, some balanced, and some, such as certain patches, are designed to be intoxicating. Check the label to see which you have, and ask the Front Street team if it is unclear.

Using a Topical Safely

Follow the directions on the package for how much to use and how often. As general good practice:

1. Test a small patch of skin first, especially if your skin is sensitive.
2. Apply to clean, dry skin.
3. Keep topicals away from eyes and broken skin.
4. Wash your hands after applying.
5. Store them closed, away from heat, and out of reach of children and pets.
