Live Rosin in Kalkaska

How to Shop the Rosin Shelf

1. Check the live menu first. Strains change from one run to the next, and a Kalkaska drive is worth planning around what is actually listed.
2. Read the THC on the label. Rosin is concentrated, and the number tells you how small to start.
3. Ask about your gear. Rosin is made for dab rigs, e-nails and concentrate vaporizers. If you are new to dabbing, the Kalkaska team can talk through the equipment before you buy.

What makes rosin solventless?

Rosin is made without chemical solvents. RKIVE Reserve starts with Olswell-grown cannabis at the Adrian lab and uses ice water and mechanical separation, with heat and pressure to finish, and no butane, propane or ethanol anywhere in the process. That is why it can be called solventless.

Live Rosin or Rosin From Cured Material

Live rosin is pressed from hash made from fresh-frozen material. Other rosin can be pressed from cured flower or from hash made from cured material. Live rosin tends to keep more of the volatile terpenes, which is why it is the aromatic one. Either way, the label should tell you how it was made and how strong it is. Our comparison of live rosin vs. live resin covers the solvent-based alternative.

Up North Handling

Heat is rosin's enemy: it softens, then runs. Keep it out of a hot truck cab, a boat bag or a dashboard, and store it in an airtight glass or silicone container away from light. Start with an amount about the size of a grain of rice and wait before adding more. Use it on private property with the owner's permission, never at the lake, on the trail or behind the wheel, and leave it in Michigan, because cannabis cannot cross state lines.
