Ohio Day Trip to Adrian, Michigan: Cannabis Dispensary and Shopping Guide

Getting there from Ohio

• Toledo, about 38 miles. The usual drive runs mainly on I-475 and US-223 and takes around 56 minutes in free-flowing traffic. The Toledo to Adrian drive guide has the route.
• Sylvania, about 25 miles.
• Bowling Green, about 55 miles.
• Findlay, about 77 miles.

These are road miles. Weekends are usually lighter than weekday rush hours, and snow and ice add time in winter, so check your navigation app before you leave.

Keep it in Michigan

Federal law prohibits carrying cannabis across state lines, and that includes the drive back into Ohio, even though Ohio has its own rules. There is no checkpoint at the line, but the rule is real, and it applies however small the amount is. Do not bring it home.

That shapes how to shop on a day trip. Buy only what you will use in Michigan, on private property such as a hotel or rental that allows it, and never in a vehicle. If that does not fit a day trip, it is fine to skip buying. The Ohio and Michigan border guide covers the details.

Order ahead, then pick up

Order on the Adrian live menu before you leave. You pick up in store and pay cash at pickup, with an ATM on-site. Orders are held until the end of the business day, so a morning order still works if you spend the day in Adrian and stop by later. Inventory rotates, so check the live menu for what is in stock. Olswell does not deliver.

What to bring and what to know

• A valid government-issued photo ID showing you are 21 or older. Ohio licenses are fine, and no medical card is needed or used.
• Cash. Olswell is cash only.
• First-time customers get 25% off their first visit, so tell the counter it is your first time.
• Adrian's Happy Hour takes 20% off the whole shop on Friday 8AM-2PM and Sunday 8AM-12PM. Weekly deals change, so check the live menu.
• Michigan adult-use purchases carry a 10% excise tax plus 6% sales tax. A single purchase is capped at 2.5 ounces, with no more than 15 grams of that as concentrate.

Adrian is home to Olswell's RKIVE Reserve lab, which makes the brand's solventless hash rosin and reserve flower, and the store also carries Play and The Limit. Adrian won Best of Lenawee, first place. New to dispensaries? The first-time visitor guide for Adrian walks through the visit.

A day in Adrian

• Morning. Drive up, then breakfast or a coffee downtown.
• Midday. Walk downtown, browse the shops and galleries, and have lunch at a local restaurant. The Croswell Opera House is worth a look, and you can check its schedule if the timing works.
• Afternoon. Stop at Olswell Adrian, or pick up the order you placed that morning. Add a Lenawee County park or a historic site if you have time.
• Evening. Stay over in Lenawee County at a place that allows cannabis, and buy only what you will use there. Nothing you buy at Olswell can go home to Ohio.

Check current listings and hours for restaurants and attractions before you go.

Safety

Never drive after using cannabis. Day trippers should use nothing until they are done driving for the day. Michigan does not authorize public consumption, so parks, parking lots and the street are out.
